Project: Company and Partner Stores
Organization
Interactive Intelligence*, a manufacturer of business interaction management software for contact centers, enterprises, and service providers.
Project Description
Interactive Intelligence needed a way to sell promotional items with their corporate logo to the public. In addition, they had the need to sell sales and marketing materials to their reseller partners. It would be important for people to be able to place orders 24 hours a day and product updates, order processing, and order fulfillment would need to be handled by non-technical staff. What's more, they needed it quick!
Solution
After defining the company's requirements for the project and conducting research on the available options, two stores were created using the Yahoo! Store system. The "company store" sells clothing and promotional items to the public, while the "partner store" sells sales and marketing collateral to reseller partners and is password-protected. Both stores were online and selling products within just a few weeks of the original request.
Some items of note:
- The stores use all original design and layout. None of the default Yahoo Store styles or graphics were used.
- Specialized templates were developed using Yahoo Store's proprietary RTML language in an effort to match Interactive Intelligence's then-current corporate web site design.
- Product updates could be made by non-technical staff, and order processing and fulfillment was handled by a third-party company.
- Yahoo Store was selected due to it's user-friendly design, low cost, and quick implementation. The store has served its purpose well for more than four years.
The company and partner stores are perfect examples of the appropriate use of technology. Not needing a full-blown, overpriced e-commerce system, the company got a solution that delivered exactly what it needed, when it needed it, at a price it could afford.
